Progress is progress...

Is it too late for a progress report? No!

It's November. Two months left in the year. People are wrapping up, pulling projects together, checking in on what's going to make it, what's not, and tweaking accordingly. All preparation for their final performance review.

Do you ever stop and take a moment to check-in on your personal progress report?

Stepping back to January and noticing where you were, and the things that you were hoping for this year. The things that came to fruition, the things that didn't...and perhaps when you're reading this, you get a reminder of something that you actually want to make happen before the year's out.

But it's not all about doing. It's about noticing. Progress is exactly that - progress. It's not perfection, it's not finality. It's comparing where you are right now to where you were earlier this year. That's what this looks like.

And just to note, if you didn't have any plans for this year, that's okay, too. Sometimes maintaining the status quo is exactly the right plan for you. Or maybe it's adapting to a new life situation where just making it through the year was what you intended to do. If this is you, bravo, you've made it this far...that's success.

Your progress is your progress. You get to define it. There's no comparison to anyone else here. Your benchmark is always you... not your neighbour, not your friends, not your colleagues, not where your parents were at this time. All of those things... irrelevant…their progress is their progress.

Yours is yours.

So how about it, ready to check in?

Are you ready?

Let's get to it...

Your challenge...

Is it time to do a progress check?

The thing about progress checks that's really useful, is that they can help you to see how far you've come.

In the busyness of life you can miss this.

Pick one area of your life right now where you want to check in. It doesn't have to be a big thing. Just let whatever it is come to mind and trust it.

Trace back to January.

Notice where you were, what hopes you had for this particular thing. Move slowly, month by month, and notice the sometimes subtle things that occurred that you may have not have seen. Or maybe you've forgotten about them.

Track all the way to this moment, right now.

What's different since the beginning of this year.

What progress did you make? Any tiny thing counts. Progress is progress. There's no defined measurement.

Now take a moment to acknowledge yourself. You're doing better than you think.
